How To Diet Smart

How many times have you started a diet, but felt so tired and hungry after a few days that you threw in the towel? You're not alone.

Dieting doesn't have to be that difficult.  What if I told you it is possible to lose weight and still feel good?!

Here are our strategies which make all the difference!

  • Consistency is key!!!

  • Be patient with your goals. Rome wasn't built in a day.

  • Chose a sustainable food plan that you can stick to long-term, rather than a short-term fix that you won't even last 2 weeks on. Consistency is key when it comes to losing fat!

  • Don't eliminate ANY food groups or try cutting out carbs or starving yourself. Eliminating food groups and eating under under 1,200 calories a day is a surefire way to ruin your metabolism and put a halt on your fat loss.

  • As tempting as it may seem to lose 6kgs in a week, don't do any extreme diets/shake diets/liquid diets/lemon detoxes etc. This is very unhealthy and you are depriving your body of many needed vitamins, minerals and nutrients.

  • Treat yourself, but only 10% of the time. A lot of people tend to eat well during the week, and completely ruin their diet on the weekends. Try to get into the habit of eating healthy throughout the weekend as well, and only treat yourself to ONE bad meal, not a whole bad day or two.

  • Accept that you will stuff up. You will have bad weeks here and there. It's all part of the process. If you slip up, don't beat yourself up about it. You are only human, we all make mistakes, just get back on track and move on.

  • For fat loss, you need to remain in a calorie deficit, whether that means training more or eating less.

  • Don't implement everything at once. Your body is smart and does a good job of adjusting to things. Once you drop your calories, at first, you will be in a deficit and losing weight, but in time your body will become more efficient at expending energy, therefore your metabolism will slow and your fat loss will plateau. Always keep one trick up your sleeve to continue burning fat down the track!
